Giant Phi Ta Khon, Rahu Ray of the Mae Klong, the Sea Ogress, Chalawan and the Giant Mangrove Mud Crab arrive with arenas of their own, boss outfits and boss pets. The festival grounds turn to Halloween from 24 October to 2 November.
BossesBoss fights with skills, teamwork and weekly rewards6
Giant Phi Ta Khon — Man River, Dan SaiChanges its mask in rounds, and each colour changes the rules of the room. Every player sees the same mask at the same time, so read the colour and change how you play.
Rahu Ray — Mae Klong Eclipse BendRahu starts to swallow the moon. Hit hard enough as a room before the cast ends and it is broken, leaving the boss dazed. The only boss whose move can be stopped by damage.
The Sea Ogress — Sai Kaew Cove, Koh SametEvery dodge anyone makes adds a note to a pipe song. Finish the song and the ogress falls asleep, so dodging helps the room as much as hitting.
Chalawan — Wang Kaja Bend, Nan RiverGoes into a frenzy of three moves in a row, then lies panting on the sand. Survive the three, then pile in while it rests.
Giant Mud Crab — Ranong Mangrove FlatsGrabs the fishing lines and drags them into its burrow. Enough people have to pull at once. It counts heads, not damage, so a brand-new player helps as much as anyone.
Boss outfits and boss petsEvery new boss has its own outfit to win from a kill and a boss cub to keep as a pet, logged in the boss hunt book like the others.
Festivals and event fishHalloween, Loy Krathong, Christmas, New Year, and the fish that belong to each1
Halloween, 24 Oct – 2 NovThe festival grounds go Halloween: festival fish, the Spirit Maze, hide-and-seek in the fun park and a pumpkin hat to wear. Loy Krathong follows.
Quality of lifeScreens, buttons, sound and visuals that are easier on the eye1
A lighter serverThe server now reads game settings more cheaply. Recording each catch and opening the daily quests take about half the work they did, so more people can play at once on the same machine.
The biggest drop so far: boss fights with skills and runes, Halloween, Loy Krathong, Christmas and New Year, a winter with fishing lines and snow rods, a world with a wandering legend, and events players can host themselves.
New systems open one at a time after this update, not all in a single day. Anything whose time has not come yet will not show up in the game.
BossesBoss fights with skills, teamwork and weekly rewards6
Boss skills and runesBoss rooms now have a skill bar: Harpoon, Net Throw, Rod Slam and Whirlpool, plus a dash to dodge boss moves. Unlock them by level or with runes, then rank them up for more damage and shorter cooldowns.
Party frame in boss roomsSee yourself and the friends fighting beside you, each with a health bar. You can tell at a glance who is in trouble, who is down, and how much health the boss has left.
AUTO skillsTurn on AUTO and the game keeps casting your skills for you when your hands get tired. Casting by hand with good timing still does more.
Skill dockSkills sit in one row above the cast button, within thumb reach on phones. On a computer you can use number keys, and there is a slot for healing potions right next to them.
Weekly boss contract and Challenge RoomEach week a contract with special conditions opens a Challenge Room against a boss. The more kills you join, the more choices you get in the weekly chest.
Boss hunt log and boss whelpsThe log tracks how many times you have felled each boss, and every boss has a whelp you can win as a pet.
Festivals and event fishHalloween, Loy Krathong, Christmas, New Year, and the fish that belong to each10
A festival ground that follows the calendarThe festival ground changes with the real calendar: Halloween, Loy Krathong, Christmas and New Year, each with its own activities and goods.
Festival fish for every festivalHalloween, Loy Krathong, Christmas and New Year each bring their own fish to chase, from tiny ones to a few very rare hunts. They can only be caught during that festival, and some only come out at night.
Halloween hide and seek with ghost botsA spooky hide-and-seek. If there are not enough players, ghost bots join in to fill the game.
Spirit Maze, a new layout every runFind the way out while collecting spirit lights. The layout is different on every run, with keys and locked doors, patrolling ghosts, one-way gates and false hedges. The higher your level, the bigger and harder it gets.
Floating a krathongFloat a krathong from the riverside stand at the festival ground and watch everyone's krathongs drift downstream together.
Sky lanterns for the whole serverOn every night of the festival, the whole server releases sky lanterns at the same moment.
New Year countdown and fireworksWait at the festival ground, count down together, and set off fireworks as one at midnight.
Secret SantaWrap a gift for a stranger, let the game pick the recipient, and open them together on Christmas.
Three festival hatsA carved pumpkin hat, a Santa hat and a New Year party hat, drawn for all 8 directions. Buy each with coins, only while its festival is on.
Festival rod and float skinsA pumpkin-vine rod, a Christmas candy rod, a mini krathong float, a red lantern float and more. They only change how your gear looks and give no extra power.
Winter, lines and rodsSnow, a new fishing-line slot, and seasonal rods6
Snow instead of rain in winterFrom the end of the year into the new one, rain on the winter maps turns into real falling snow.
A cold season: fish bite slowerWhile the water is cold, fish bite slower and run smaller unless you bring cold-proof gear. New players are not affected.
Fishing lines, a new gear slotThe better the line, the bigger the fish it holds without snapping, but every cast wears it down. Choose from nylon, fluorocarbon, braided, silk, steel and glowing lines.
A fishing line tab in the shopThe shop now has a fishing line tab that jumps straight to the line shop, so you no longer have to hunt for where to buy them.
Winter lines and festival linesWinter lines keep you from falling behind in the cold. Festival lines are just for showing off and add no power.
Winter rodsSeasonal rods that genuinely help in the cold. You can enhance them, socket them and sell them like normal rods, and they go on sale ahead of winter.
Living worldRoaming legends, world events, realm gates, and things placed on the map9
The roaming legendA legendary boss wanders between ordinary fishing maps, and the whole server fights it together over one shared health bar.
Legend blessingWhen the legend falls, golden sparks float over every player's screen. Tap to take the blessing once within the day.
World eventsIn the evening you may see ghost fog, a meteor shower or a flash flood, affecting everyone on the server at once, with an on-screen announcement at the start and a countdown to the end.
Activities that live on the mapThe season banner pole, the weekly quest board, the Today board, the compass stand, the glass tank hall and the shrine of life now stand on the maps. Walk up and tap them instead of only using screen buttons.
Realm gates and their atmosphereDimensional gates open in rounds on existing maps and bring a heaven, hell or abyss atmosphere. Every fish species carries marks for each realm to collect.
Night fish and time-of-day stampsSome fish only appear at night, and each species has dawn, dusk and night stamps in the almanac, earned by catching it yourself at that time of day.
Map stats boardsA wooden board beside each map's fishing spot shows the biggest fish of the week, the top anglers and recent rare catches.
Buried treasure and valuable junkBury coins or items for other players to hunt, with a hot-and-cold compass to guide them. Junk you reel in can occasionally turn out to be valuable. The game never creates extra money by itself.
Old Piak, the travelling merchantOld Piak travels round the original fishing maps in rounds, selling things you cannot buy anywhere else.
New activitiesThe trawler, the rift pond, and events players host themselves5
Trawler voyageBoard as crew with friends: handle deck events together, haul the nets, fight the giant shadow and open a reward crate when you return to port.
Rift diveDive down the rift pond floor by floor, relaxed: no rankings and no penalties. Each run has different special conditions.
Player-hosted hide and seekPut up a coin prize, disguise yourself as a prop on a map and let friends find you. The first finders split the prize.
Player-hosted fishing contestSet up your own fishing contest with a coin prize. The result is judged from the fish actually caught during the contest, so only real catches count.
Job board, including boss-assist jobsA notice board by the fishing spots where players ask for fish or items, or hire help dealing damage to a boss. Whoever finishes the job gets paid, and the pay is held safely until it is done.
Economy and collectionOrders, the museum, the aquarium, and long-term goals10
Weekly ordersYour own weekly fish orders: hand in fish you catch to earn rewards. They scale with your level.
The fish museumDonate fish to the museum. The more different species you donate, the higher the reward milestones you unlock.
Legend huntsHunt legendary fish by working things out yourself, one hint at a time.
Aquarium journal and evolution linesDaily tasks for your tank, a collection book of the fish in it, and fish that evolve into the next one in their line. You see the cost before you decide.
Collection sets and size crownsCollect fish across maps to complete sets, and chase big catches to earn a size crown for each species in the almanac.
Achievements and seasonsLong-term goals to chase at your own pace, and a time-limited season with tasks and reward tiers.
Rebirth and pathsAt the top level you can start a new life for an XP multiplier, then pick a path with a specialised bonus.
The Today boardOne board for everything that runs on the clock, so you can see what is next without hunting for it.
Rest bonusDays you do not play are saved as a bonus to spend when you return, so a break never costs you quests.
Weekly questsSmall goals for the week that you can finish any time during it.
Quality of lifeScreens, buttons, sound and visuals that are easier on the eye6
A "what's new" link on the update bannerWhen the game tells you an update is ready, there is now a link to this page so you can read about it before refreshing.
Hand-painted art instead of code-drawn shapesFish shadows, rain, flood pools, event flags and many other effects in the world are now hand-painted pictures that match the scene instead of plain shapes.
Cleaner map layoutsRandomly placed things on a map no longer block exits or sit on top of each other, labels no longer stack, and every exit has a name in both languages.
Easier tapping on phonesPanel tabs are tall enough for a thumb, the side stack of context buttons no longer spills off the screen, the smallest text is larger, and toasts no longer cover your thumb buttons.
Boss rooms are easier to readThe boss introduction is a painted plate above the boss instead of a strip across it, wide windows zoom out to fit the boss and the players, and the naga's head is no longer hidden by the health bar.
Sound and effects balancedSounds for the new features are matched to the game's main volume, and festival atmospheres no longer pile on top of each other.
FixesBugs that have been squashed6
Fixed exits and arrival points on several mapsCorrected exits that led to the wrong map, labels that did not match, and the spot where you appear after crossing maps.
Spirit Maze: tap-to-walk goes through doors you hold a key forOnce you hold a door's key, that door no longer blocks tap-to-walk paths.
Flash flood: pools no longer stick from the old mapAfter changing maps, the first set of flood pools no longer keeps the old map's spots, and pools, relief crates, forage and chests no longer overlap.
No wandering villager where there should be noneThe wandering tip villager no longer turns up in the Spirit Maze, the rift pond or on the trawler deck.
Job boards and event flags stay out of boss roomsThe job board, the hide-and-seek flag and the contest banner no longer appear in boss rooms or special maps.
The clue scroll no longer shifts the game screenOpening the clue scroll no longer shifts the whole game view, which used to throw off every panel you opened afterwards.
